In his previous life James served in the U.S. Navy as a Cryptologic Technician. He was stationed in Fort Meade where he was assigned to the National Security Agency.  After, leaving the Navy he used his G.I. Bill to attend seminary.  He served as a youth minister for several years before stepping into the senior pastor position at a small rural church where he remained for 13 years.
Before coming to Opp High, James worked with the Adult Education Department at Cleveland Community College where he helped prepare students to enter the workforce.  From here he joined Communities in Schools as a Site Coordinator under the 21st Century Grant helping provide both in school support as well as organizing and implementing after school and summer learning programs for at risk communities.
James now serves in the English Department and is a member of the OHS Football coaching staff.
